Big Thunder Mountain is two days from reopening — and Disney's buying a fourth ferry boat
The scaffolding is coming down and the final construction milestones are passing: Laughing Place reports Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is just two days from its anticipated reopening after the ride's longest-ever refurbishment. The closure, which began in January, brought restored classic effects, enhanced cave sequences, refreshed queue elements, and a deeper focus on the ride's lore — Imagineering shared new details with Attractions Magazine in an exclusive interview. AllEars confirms the attraction has cleared a major final step toward its return to Frontierland.
Meanwhile, Walt Disney World is expanding its Seven Seas Lagoon ferry fleet. Theme Park Insider reports a fourth ferry boat will enter service next year , carrying guests between the Transportation and Ticket Center and Magic Kingdom. The Orlando Sentinel adds the vessel will be named after a former U.S. president — continuing the tradition of the existing fleet, which includes the Admiral Joe Fowler, the Richard F. Irvine, and the General Joe Potter.

Exclusive look inside Lakeshore Lodge construction — and Disney's plotting a single super app
Attractions Magazine scored an exclusive water-side construction tour of Disney Lakeshore Lodge , viewing progress along Bay Lake and revealing a more refined resort design than previously shown. The outlet shares new renderings with details on the resort's exterior treatment, waterfront layout, and theming direction — the most comprehensive look at the project to date.
On the digital front, a Bloomberg report surfaced this week revealing Disney executives are exploring a single "super app" via Disney+ that would consolidate the Disney Parks app, games, streaming, and other services under one roof. No timeline is set, but the conversations signal a broader push to reduce fragmentation across Disney's digital products.
